Why alignment matters

The world patented Align Footwear insoles work wherever you walk, run or jump – please see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and answers right here:

Our tri-planar technology is derived from an innovative physical therapist-designed orthotic built into the foot bed. It works biomechanically to naturally support your foot, align your kinetic chain, and relieve foot, knee, hip and back pain.

The lifespan of Align Footwear insoles depends on varying factors including weight, gait (manner of walking) and amount of use. On average, our insoles last double the industry standard, i.e., normally 10-12 months if you use the insoles on a daily basis.

Consider the type of footwear and the activity you are performing in your Align Footwear insoles. If you wear the insoles and work on your feet all day, you will see wear more quickly than if you are using the insoles for an hour at the gym once in a while. A good rule of thumb is to listen to your feet!

When your Align Footwear insoles no longer feel like they are providing your feet the same amount of support as when they were brand new, it might be at good time to replace them.

It is true that no two misalignments are the same. However, our insoles are truly revolutionary and unlike anything on the market. It is not about placing an artificial arch under the foot like many of our competitors do. It is about controlling the rolling in or rolling out of the ankle. With years of clinical application and research on tri-planar technology, we have developed a design that aligns the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decreases pronation up 27% and aligns the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%.

In an ideal world, everyone would have custom insoles fit for their shoes! The development of this support was based on that premise. Hundreds of physical therapy patients have seen dramatic improvement with this technology using custom fitting. The Align Footwear insoles was born to come as close to custom as we can so all people can benefit from this proven technology. Many of our customers have spent hundreds of pounds on custom orthotics only to find that the Align Footwear insoles work above and beyond anything else they have tried.

While other brands concentrate solely on arch support, we focus on proper body alignment. With years of clinical practice and research on tri-planar technology, we have developed a design that aligns the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decreases pronation up to 27%, and aligns the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%. This movement toward neutrality of the ankle and the tibia provides the key to reducing pain, fatigue, pronation and supination.

The Align Footwear insoles increase mobility, comfort and performance. They promote better posture and body alignment within your kinetic chain, making you more biomechanically efficient and improving your overall well-being. When your body is aligned, the force of each step is more evenly distributed. Our insoles reduce destructive shock waves from traveling up your body every time your feet hit the ground, which means better joint alignment, as well as less pressure and inflammation of your joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Yes. We recommend removing your current shoe insoles and replacing them with the Align Footwear insoles. This will give your feet more room for comfort.

An exception is made for boots with at flat insole and no arch support. In this case, place the Align Footwear insoles on top of the existing insoles, if room allows.

Yes, as long as the existing insole has no arch support and Align Footwear insoles can lie flat.  If you feel your feet have enough room, this should not be a problem.

Align Footwear insoles have been adjusted to fit the European sizes, i.e. a size 39 will fit into a shoe no 39, a size 36/37 insoles will fit into a a large size 36/small 37 etc.

You may also make use of the size guide below – all you have to do is to measure the length of your foot and compare it with the sizes in this guide.

Please notice: you might want to cut the Align Footwear insoles into shape – be aware that in such cases, we do not offer you our “60 days money back guarantee” :

Yes. Align Footwear insoles are transferrable from shoe to shoe. We understand how hard it can be to walk through life with pain. That’s why we strive to create the very best technology at an affordable price. If you wear Arch Mobility insoles every day, consider investing in multiple pairs to make getting dressed an easy process and to ensure you never forget to wear your insoles.

You may use the Align Footwear insoles in various kinds of footwear, from ballerina shoes, flat boots and boots with high heels. However, too slim high heels might not be a great idea!

If you need to clean your Align Footwear insoles, hand wash with mild soap in warm water. An old soft-bristle toothbrush or wash cloth can be used to scrub the insole. Be sure to rinse all of the soap off after scrubbing. Pat dry with a soft towel and allow the insoles to air dry in a room temperature environment away from any heat source.

You may also wash your insoles in a machine – however, on max 49 degrees.

Please do not tumble dry your Align Footwear insoles.

In case you experience any increased perspiration and odour when using the Align Footwear insoles, we recommend you to try out the following:

Clean your Align Footwear insoles once or twice a week when needed. (please see”How do I clean my Align Footwear insoles?”)

Remove the Align Footwear insoles from your shoes at night in order to make your shoes and insoles ”breathe” for a period.

Use different shoes every other day if needed.

Change your socks often or try another brand. To some people the change of brand into more breathable fabrics might be the answer.

Absorb the perspiration and odour by sprinkling a teaspoon of baby powder on top of the insoles, while they are inside the shoe.

Try to bath your feet in hot water mixed with Epsom salt for 20 minutes, 1-2 times a week.

Wear your Align Footwear insoles for 1-2 hours the first day, 2-3 hours the second day and 3-4 hours the third day. Continue to increase wear by 1-2 hours until a full day is reached.

Prior to running in Align Footwear insoles, make sure you have worn them for 4 to 5 days, full time.

Any time you put your feet into a new state of alignment, there is an important adjustment period that should not be rushed. Listen to your body; proper alignment may feel different, but should not feel uncomfortable.

If you experience discomfort after one month of wearing the Align Footwear insoles, please start a conversation with us about your specific situation via phone or email (please be aware of our opening hours and response time).

We want you to have the benefit of Align Footwear on both sides. You can add a flat insole under the Align Footwear insole on the shorter side.

If still in doubt, please contact your doctor.

When properly used (see “How long should I wear Align Footwear insoles”), our insoles should increase comfort and reduce pain.

Any time you put your feet into a new state of alignment, there is an important adjustment called an anatomic adaption period that should not be rushed. Listen to your body, proper alignment may feel different, but should not feel uncomfortable.

During the first 1 to 2 weeks of wear, you may fee aches in your body due to proper alignment; your body is now aligned and utilizing muscles you were not using before.

If you experience discomfort after two weeks of wearing Align Footwear insoles, please start a conversation with us about your specific situation.

You will feel a difference in body alignment from the moment you step into your Align Footwear insoles. The time it takes to feel relief from pain, as well as the total amount of pain relief, varies depending upon yu specific circumstances.

Many Align Footwear wearers experience immediate relief from pain they have felt for years. We have a lot of great testimonials on our website and Facebook page from people with all sorts of foot, knee, hip, back pain and more.

Be sure to follow directions to properly break in your insoles to experience a pain free transition (se “How long should I wear Align Footwear insoles?”)

Yes. Align Footwear insoles help reduce pronation significantly.

80% of the population suffers from some level of over-pronation. Align Footwear insoles are all about de-rotating and aligning the foot into a more neutral position. It’s not about placing an artificial arch under the foot like many of our competitors do. It’s about controlling the ankle to optimize the body’s potential using your body’s biomechanics.

It may seem like the collapsed sole of the foot is the source of the problem for people who over-pronate. Pronation is a complicated combination of movements of the foot and ankle. It begins with your Talus, the “dome” your long leg bone (Tibia) sits on. When the Talus rotates inward it shifts the ankle forward and inward, abducting the forefoot outward, collapsing the mid foot, and pulling your heel bone outward. The knee follows the same path. Your gait becomes much less efficient. The body has to work much harder to propel forward, resulting in fatigue and biomechanical stress. Over-pronation can negatively affect overall body alignment and cause unnecessary strain to the ankles, knees, hips and back joints as the result.

A study by Runner’s World third party expert Dr. Martyn Shorten PhD found Align Footwear insoles to align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%. No other shoe insole company has numbers like these.

Yes. Flat feet are pronated feet. Align Footwear insoles help reduce flat feet significantly.

Flat Feet occurs when the ankle rolls in, causing the arch to collapse into an abducted position. This stretches the plantar fascia and causes unnatural tension. Align Footwear insoles are all about de-rotating and aligning the foot into a more neutral position. It’s not about placing an artificial arch under the foot like many of our competitors. It’s about controlling the ankle to optimize the body’s potential.

There are many variables with supination. Biomechanical problems from supination can be rolling your ankle outward or wearing on your posterior tibia tendon because of the excursion downward of your arch during weight bearing. If the latter is correct, the Align Footwear insoles can be helpful. It is also very important to stretch your achilles (heel cord). With both a supinated and a pronated foot, the heel cord can be very tight. As time goes on, the tightening heel cord creates more issues.

A study by Runner’s World third party expert Dr. Martyn Shorten PhD found Align Footwear insoles to align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%. If you suffer from pain due to supination, we encourage you to give Align Footwear a try. Our tri-planar technology focuses on controlling the position of the foot by supporting the ankle. See if Align Footwear insoles work for your feet; we offer you a 60 Days Refund Policy – if the Align Footwear insoles do not help you, return the insoles and get your money back.

Yes. Align Footwear insoles help against painful ”sunken forefoot”. Such feeling of having a ”sunken forefoot” might occur when the tendon and muscle under the forefoot and toe are “too relaxed” and “flattens out”. It is not about placing an artificial support under the forefoot by way of example a forefoot pad, a wedge or arch support, which previously was the solution – it’s about controlling the ankle to maximize the body’s potential and provide all the muscles under our feet space to move – just as we are supposed to do. Furthermore, the condition may occur when one has suffered from hammer toes for some years (see “Do Align Footwear insoles help hammer toe?”).

We know that the Align Footwear insoles will help you by aligning your body. A study by Runner’s World third party expert Dr. Martyn Shorten PhD found Align Footwear insoles to align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%. When you provide that level of correction, you increase your biomechanical alignment through your entire kinetic chain, increasing efficiency and decreasing repetitive stress that would otherwise be absorbed by your soft tissue, joints, tendons and ligaments. Align Footwear insoles will help align your body and relieve pain.

Yes. Plantar Fasciitis can be treated with Align Footwear insoles.

Your plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot from your heel bone to your toes. Plantar Fasciitis occurs when this tissue is scarred, torn, inflamed, and structurally broken down.

Our insoles put the foot back into a more neutral position, decreasing tension on the plantar fascia and helping to reduce pain and inflammation. Wearing our insoles will increase your biomechanical alignment within your kinetic chain and reduce the repetitive stress on your joints and tendons.

If you have Plantar Fasciitis, you can speed up your body’s healing process by combining Align Footwear insoles with regular stretching.

Please realize that one of the most important treatments of plantar fasciitis is stretching your heel cord several times daily.

And yes. Heel spurs can be treated with Align Footwear insoles.

A heel spur is a calcium deposit that can form on the underside of the heel bone and is frequently associated with Plantar Fasciitis. About 70% of patients with Plantar Fasciitis have a heel spur that can be seen on an X-ray, appearing as a triangular point jolting out from the bottom of the heel bone. Our insoles put the foot back into a more neutral position, decreasing tension on the plantar fascia and helping to reduce pain and inflammation.

The heel spur itself is not what causes the pain, but rather inflammation of the plantar fascia, the fibrous band of connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the ball of the foot.

If you have heel spurs, you can speed up your body’s healing process by combining Align Footwear insoles with regular stretching.

Yes. Align Footwear insoles work to align your kinetic chain and promote healthier posture.

We’re all about science and biomechanical alignment. The position and comfort of the spine are reliant on the position of the foot. When the body is aligned from the feet up, not only are balance and posture improved, but inflammation and pain in the joints, muscles, and ligaments are reduced as well. We have had many customers and patients experience a significant level of relief with the help of tri-planar support.

Hammer toes are a situation where the tendons that are attached on top of the toes contract back, shortening the toe in length and raising the knuckle of the toe.

Our insoles can help this situation by stabilizing the foot and ankle so there is less friction and sliding around of the foot.

Determine if there is enough room in the toe box of your shoes or boots to insert Align Footwear insoles. Make sure the top of your toes do not rub on the shoe or boot, creating blisters, corns and calluses.

Yes. Sciatica is a painful condition along the sciatic nerve, which runs down the legs from the lower back. When you use the Align Footwear insoles, you will notice a difference in your entire posture. The support you get, works its way into your back and helps reduce pain associated with sciatica.

If you are very “locked” by the sciatic nerve, we recommend that you visit a chiropractor and / or physical therapist, so you can get their help to loosen the sciatic nerve. Together with Align Footwear insoles, it will be a reasonable treatment for your pain.

We know the Align Footwear insoles will help by aligning your body. A study by Runner’s World third party expert Dr. Martyn Shorten PhD found Align Footwear insoles to align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%. Align Footwear insoles will help align your body and relieve pain.

Yes.  Align Footwear insoles have been used with many Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome patients and have proven to be very helpful.  Our insoles help align the ankle, reduce pressure on the tarsal tunnel and evenly distribute the force of each step you take.

People with flat feet and those who suffer from pronation have an increased risk of developing Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome.  Our innovative insoles align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%.

With Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, it is very important to stretch your heel cords several times per day.

Yes. Align Footwear insoles help to ease the pressure in your muscles by overwork, e.g. in your feet and calf. If you walk or run the wrong way, your joints and muscles overcompensate and it may cause pain and cramping. We believe Align Footwear insoles will help by aligning your body.

Yes. Our insoles provide enough change in alignment to move the toes and foot into a better position.

Align Footwear insoles are unlike anything else on the market. It’s not about placing an artificial arch under the foot like many of our competitors do….. We aim to correct your ankle alignment by controlling the rotation. Other customers that stand on their feet for 10+ hours a day have reported little to no pain after switching to Align Footwear insoles.  We believe Align Footwear insoles will help by ultimately aligning your body.

Yes. Align Footwear insoles can help relieve pain from Shin Splits.

Shin Splits are most often causes by heel cords that are too tight as a result of some degree of excess pronation and an active lifestyle. Align Footwear insoles combined with the proper stretches, several times daily, will help naturally reduce pain and heal your Shin Splits.

No unfortunately not. At the moment Align Footwear insoles are not covered by health insurance and the like.

Shoes are the main cause of neuroma. Those with a neuroma describe several types of pain: burning, stinging, stabbing, shooting, tingling, cramping, numbness, fullness and walking on a lump. Many will find immediate relief by removing their shoes.

We’re all about de-rotating and aligning the foot. By de-rotating the foot and changing the foot alignment, the pressure on the neuroma can be decreased. We believe Align Footwear insoles will help by aligning your body. A study by Runner’s World third party expert Dr. Martyn Shorten PhD found Align Footwear insoles to align the ankle into a more neutral state up to 32%, decrease pronation up to 27%, and align the tibia (shin) into a more neutral state by up to 40%.
